A native of Tennessee who now lives in Arkansas, Collin has been writing poetry for many years, haiku since he was in his twenties. His work has been published in Frogpond, Modern Haiku, The Heron's Nest, Acorn, bottle rockets, Chrysanthemum, Clouds Peak, Roadrunner, Moonset, Ribbons, Eucalypt, Contemporary Haibun, Contemporary Haibun Online. and big sky: The Red Moon Anthology 2006. More of his haiku, tanka, haibun and haiga may be found on his personal website, http://collinbarber.com. He placed third in the Haigaonline joint-kukai with HaikuHut, published in our spring 2007 issue.
As you'll see in the present portfolio, Collin's photos are shot with a master's eye for both formal composition and revealing detail. He pairs them with equally sharp haiku about the absurdities of family life, neighbors, and the animals with whom we share the world.
