EMILY ROMANO, New Jersey US
and JAN TURNER, Virginia US

Almost all of us have Microsoft Word, yet few of us have thought to explore Word's drawing tools as a way of creating haiga. We'd like to welcome Emily and Jan to Haigaonline with this wonderfully innovative and inspired series of haiga based on abstract images from the drawing tools in Word.

Emily has been writing haiku for many, many years (she has well over 5,000 published and has recently started publishing some visual arts. Jan, who is her daughter, has a B.F.A. in Studio Arts. Just for fun they swapped fields to collaborate on three of the haiga you'll see here; Emily followed up by sending us a few solo works.

Both Emily and Jan write poetry and flash stories for SP Quill Magazine. Lists of their published work in all poetic forms, including many chapbooks, may be found at Shadow Poetry.
